Sea Ice vs open water trends vs fine navigation decisions - THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS - CHOOSE YOUR SOURCES CAREFULLY

Look at the details between the two sources below along the Arctic Alaska coast... one is a good source for noting trends while the other provides fine details for making a navigation decision... YMMV

Additional ice charts to compare...

  1. Canadian charts http://www.ec.gc.ca/glaces-ice/?lang=En date 07-31-2015 are analysing a 24 hour older situation 07-30-2015 for example www.iup.uni-bremen.de:8084/databrowser.html#tab=tabs-browser&day=30&month=6&year=2015&img={"image":"image-1","sensor":"AMSR_ICE","color":false,"region":"Arctic"} .
AMSR2 data are almost uptodate but not so detailed for a specific region.

    1. This is nothing new... for the last five years it has been said time and time again CIS is always a day late publishing ice data so it makes good sense for shore support if you require the best routing information... or just roll the dice and go for it... works for Jimmy. lol
